How to turn black and white image into svg in illustrator

first scale image down to workable size. in illustrator, I don't think it effects the quality too much when you scale it down
Next get the image trace window up from the Window tab
select black and white
then put threshold down to 2...... meaning use only 2 colors. I don't know if this did anything cause it went back to 128 when you image traced it.
hit the trace button, it then gave bad results so she undid that and tried something else...  she went to the image trace drop down and selected sillouttes, that gave better results but then she undid that and then proceeded to do the next steps below
she selected black and white logo from dropdown menu and then it will run the image trace
Hit expand button
Go to Object then ungroup, this will put the blue line with dots around black part of image.
Select one white area then go to Select then Same then fill color......( this took some finagling, it didn't work at first. I selected a white area and it was then highlighted in blue, but when I selected Same then Fill color it didn't select all of white. it didnt work until I zoomed in, clicked off of it then clicked on the white again then went to Same then Fill color....... and then it selected all of white for me to delete)

..... this will select all the white areas..... then you hit delete to delete the white
now select one black piece then go to select then Same then Fill color to make it select all black
Then press command and 8 and that will not only group it but create one solid piece for cricut to cut
Finally go to file and save as svg
